The Secret Book Club

A book club for the biggest book-lovers on Tumblr.

Also,

For the meeting it will ask for your name (anything you want others to see) and an email address (you can make one up if you would like) - so do not fear!

Hello all can everyone talk now?

Here is the meeting link: http://www.anymeeting.com/secretbookclub1 so if you would like to talk about The Bell Jar then come join us!

ccerseilannister asked: Hi! Wow, err, am I too late to join this book club?

No of course not! Have you read The Bell Jar?

theflailingasgardian asked: Family birthday today, so I won't be able to join you guys, sorry...

No worries, hope you have fun anyhow. If you have time at some point just tell us what you thought of it on ask or something :)

fandomwarrior asked: Okay, thanks! I'm available all day, so count me in!

Same with me, so just let us know everyone!

fandomwarrior asked: Hey! It's the 8th of June - we are supposed to talk about The Bell Jar today, am I right? Have you heard from the others?

True! Not yet. Okay everyone please post an ask with the times you can do for today and we’ll talk about it at the time when most people can talk.

ellellgee asked: I find that books teach us about ourselves. They show us a side to our history that history books and official records cannot convey. The hold the souls of nations, families and beliefs. Books help me understand myself and others. I'd love to join this not so secret book club because sharing passions is one of the tenets of a happy life. Plus, I started reading The Bell Jar yesterday- apt!

whalebreeder asked: Hello there, I'm Jenny. I would love to join this book club! I love reading, especially poetry. Sylvia Plath is my all time favorite poet. My favorite books are The Great Gatsby, The Unbearable Lightness of Being, The Sun Also Rises and The Princess Bride, oh, and the Hobbit. Gosh and so many others. I love Hemingway, Hughes, Cohen, and Fitzgerald. I write poetry and music and read as much as I can. I will definitely read The Bell Jar again! Thanks, Jenny

The Bell Jar

Hello everyone, hope you’ve all got a copy of the Bell Jar now. I’m thinking that if we aim to finish the book in two weeks - so deadline being the 8th of June - then we can all discuss it then. If you can give me timings of when in the day you can do that would be great and hopefully we can get some progress reports published every few days. I will tag what chapter the writer of each report is so if you’re not that far into it you should try and avoid the tumblr page. We should be reading about one and a half chapters a day so if the report is based on chapters further on I will tag them as spoilers. Happy reading all! Any questions just send me an ask!

haikus-and-heartache-deactivate asked: Hi there. I would like to join because I've often chosen the company of books over that of other people. There was never a book club to join in person, and my friends usually read different books than I did (aside from Harry Potter - that was one series we all agreed on). I'll try to get a hold of The Bell Jar from the library.
